Confession And Belief

Confession And Belief

• What does it mean that Jesus is Lord of your life?

• Which is easier to do: believe that Jesus rose from the dead or declare him Lord of your life? Explain.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9

The apostle Paul says two things are necessary to be saved: believing that God raised Jesus from the dead and declaring that Jesus is Lord. As far as Jesus’ resurrection goes, we have eyewitness reports from the New Testament to support our belief.

Over 500 people saw Jesus after he rose from the dead. They talked to him, ate with him and even touched his wounds. His resurrection is not a myth or legend. We have reason to believe God raised him from the dead.

Declaring that Jesus is Lord requires a little more work on our part. In order to declare Jesus Lord, we have to understand who he is. We don’t have to pass a theology exam, but we do need to know what God’s Word says about him.

He is the Son of God. He came to earth to live among us, fully God and fully human at the same time. He lived a sinless life, which made him a perfect sacrifice for us. He was crucified to pay the price for our sin. He conquered death and rose from the dead three days later.

To declare Jesus Lord means to put all your eggs in his basket, give your life to him and do as he instructs.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for your Son, our Savior and Lord. We praise you for raising him from the dead so that we may have eternal life. Amen.
