The Throne Of Grace

The Throne Of Grace

• What would happen if you tried to call the president or leader of your country?

• What does it mean to do something with confidence?

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:15 – 16

Have you ever felt like you were in a spot so tough that no one could possibly understand? Remember that Jesus was repeatedly tempted by Satan. Talk about a tough spot! Jesus knows what temptation feels like, and he wants us to conquer temptation and send Satan packing. And we are invited to call on Jesus for help when we are tempted.

Imagine you need help from someone powerful, so you attempt to call the president. Obviously, it wouldn’t happen. It was equally impossible, at the time that Hebrews was written, to simply approach the throne of the king.

But this is not the case with our King Jesus. We are invited to approach his throne with confidence. He will not turn us away. Instead, he will bestow on us mercy and grace to help us in our time of need. Why would we want to try and defeat temptation on our own when we can call on the King for help?

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you that we can approach your throne for help whenever we need to. Please help us to remember this and to approach your throne with confidence. Amen.
