Unwasted Opportunities

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14

God is speaking to the Israelites, his chosen people, in this passage. Notice he didn’t say, “Start acting right or I’m going to do bad things to you.” What he said was, “Follow these instructions because I have some amazing things I want to do for you.” He knew all the good things that would happen if the Israelites followed his instructions, and he really wanted them to experience those things.

The same goes for us today. God knows the blessings that are in store for people who turn away from sin to follow him. And he wants us to take advantage of that opportunity. If we don’t, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We can’t say we didn’t know. God gave us his Word so we could see for ourselves what he has to offer.

The Bible is full of stories of people whose lives were changed in incredible ways after they chose to follow God. If we want to enjoy the same kind of changes in our lives, all we have to do is confess our sins and follow after God.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for always keeping your promises. Never let us forget the incredible things you offer to people who turn to you. Amen.
