Love That Cannot Fail

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:8

This verse comes at the end of the famous 1 Corinthians “love” chapter, the chapter that describes God’s love. What a fitting conclusion for the description of love—it never fails. Everything else will cease, will be stilled, will pass away, but love never fails. Love is eternal. Love never ends.

Over and over in the Bible, God tells us to trust in his love. This can be hard sometimes. When we are struggling, we might wonder where God’s love is. But we know that it is right there, all around us and in us. God will never leave us or forsake us. Just because we can’t see him doesn’t mean that he’s not right there loving us with a love that will not quit.

We can depend on this love. We can lean on it, hope in it and act on it. Even when we don’t understand life, we can count on the fact that God’s love will never fail us. God is perfect. His love is perfect.

Dear God, thank you for your love. Thank you that your love never ends. Please help us to trust in your love. Amen.
