An Amazing Truth

• How does it make you feel to know that the Creator of the universe cares about you personally?

• When specifically have you experienced God’s love?

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9

God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He oversees everything from the tiniest atomic particles to the largest supernovas in space. He reigns supreme from his throne in heaven, superior to all his creation. He is perfect and holy and completely removed from anything imperfect or sinful.

There is no logical reason to assume that God, who is so powerful and so righteous, should care about the personal pain and struggles of one imperfect human creature on one average-sized planet in a universe of billions of galaxies. Yet that’s exactly what God does.

He cares about you—specifically. He knows everything about you and cares about every part. He cares because he loves every one of us. And he is faithful to us. When we are hurting, we can count on him to comfort us.

Deuteronomy 7:9 tells us God has made a covenant of love with “those who love him and keep his commandments.” God cares for us as a loving father cares for his children. He will not always make our pain go away, but he will never make us face it alone. This is a promise we can hold on to.

PRAYER
Dear God, it seems too good to be true that you, in all your power and glory, should care about us. Yet you do, and we praise you for it. Remind us of your love and your presence when we are in pain. Amen.
