It can be easy for us to forget the power of words. But don’t forget that God spoke the heavens and the earth into being!

Words are so powerful. We use words to communicate our thoughts and feelings. We use words to express who we are. We learn about God and life through words. We talk to God in words. Can you even imagine a world without words?

It’s important for us to recognize and remember the power that words have. We can use our words to express love or to hurt people. We can use our words to make the world a better place or to damage it. We can use our words to honor God or dishonor him. It’s up to us.

There is no room in a Christian’s vocabulary for cursing or rudeness. Each of our words has power. Choose wisely.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for the gift of words. Please help us to hold our tongues rather than engaging in rude and foolish talk. Help us to speak words of gratitude. Amen.
