Why Pray?

Why Pray?

• What are some things that you have been praying about recently?

• Why does God want you to pray?

Be pleased to save me, LORD; come quickly, LORD, to help me.
Psalm 40:13

God loves to answer the prayers of his people. Many times in the Bible, he tells us to pray to him, to ask him for things, and to call out to him. He even tells us that there are some things that we do not have simply because we have not asked him for them.

God wants us to pray to him because he enjoys helping us. He cares for us deeply and knows that our lives are full of hard things—we get sad or hurt or sick or just plain confused about what to do next. Praying for help is good for us because it causes us to slow down and pay attention to God.

God also enjoys helping us because it makes his power obvious to other people. When other people see what God can do, they may also slow down and pay attention to him. Our friends and family members may be interested to know more about our faith when they see us following God.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for being so willing to help us. Please let other people see your power through our prayers. Amen.
