Perpetual Worship
• Is our church a good place for you to worship God the way you want? Explain.
• If you could worship anywhere, what setting would you choose? Why?
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.
Hebrews 12:28
Some people say a church is just about the worst place for a person to worship God. They point to the bad lighting, the early morning start time and any number of other distractions to prove their point. They argue that we can’t “worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” in that kind of setting.
The big problem with that argument is that it suggests that worship takes place only when we are at church. And that’s not how God intends it. Our church may not be perfect. No church is. But it gives us a chance to fellowship with other believers, learn about God’s Word, give our offerings to God and use our gifts to serve others.
Worship, on the other hand, can be done anytime we see something that inspires us or makes us stare in awe. Worship can be done every time we think about what an incredible God we serve. Worship can be done anytime, anywhere and as often as we want.
PRAYER
Dear God, let us never think of worship as a “church thing.” Open our eyes to your incredible work so that we will be inspired to worship you everywhere. Amen.
