You Alone Are God

All the nations—and you made each one—will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your great and holy name. For you are great and perform great miracles. You alone are God. Psalm 86:9-10

In our pluralistic world we can pluck our choice of deities from a hat or fashion our own faith to suit our ideologies. But this doesn’t negate the fact that there remains a living God—the one true God. What sets our God apart from the other gods of this world? There is none like him! He is a God whom we can experience and know. He is a God who sacrificed himself for us and then rose three days later triumphant. He heals the brokenhearted. He is our shelter in tumultuous times. He is our comfort when we grieve. He gives joy that no tongue can describe. He pours out peace that passes all understanding. He sets free those who are bound by sin! Our God is not confined to a temple or found in rituals. One day all the nations will bow down before him, acknowledging that the creator of the universe reigns. Have you acknowledged him today? Take a moment and praise him for the attributes that set him apart from every other god of this world.

Prayers:
JEHOVAH, you alone are God. Even creation worships you! The oceans sing your praises. The angels call you Lord. Forgive us for failing to recognize your sovereignty. I acknowledge that you are God. I praise you today and pray that I will bring pleasure to you. I pray for my nation. May its leaders look to you in turbulent times, and may its people acknowledge you as the one true God.

Quotes:
There is but one God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of himself, all perfections, and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.
James Montgomery
