God Is Involved In Your Life
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
Psalm 25:5
As we navigate our way through days filled with pain or sorrow or uncertainty, here’s the truth: There are no secret “keys,” no spiritual techniques, no superduper prayers (not even the prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10) that can guarantee us a Disney-esque happy ending in this life. That’s because God’s goal for us is not earthly bliss, but something grander: his glory brought about through our maturity.
We would do well in tough times to forget about nonexistent magic wands and quick fixes, and to focus on promises like the one above. Look at it closely. Notice what it claims: God, our Savior, guides us. All we have to do is hope in him.
Even so, we will not fall. At least not fatally. When we do stumble, the Lord is there to pick us up and lead us farther down the road.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I will guide you in my truth.
• I am your Savior.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
I would love an easy life, Lord—free of all trouble and grief and confusion. But you have never promised such an existence. In fact, the testimony of Scripture is that I will go through hard times. Thank you for promising to direct me in your truth. Give me wisdom and courage so that I am willing to walk with you wherever you lead.
