God’s Word Helps Shape Your Attitudes
I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

Take a day loaded with responsibilities, a day when we’re “on the go,” trying feverishly to get 101 things done. Guess what? That’s a day when we are highly vulnerable to sin.

Why? Because we’ve become task-oriented. We’ve embraced a clear agenda with definite objectives. Not a problem unless—perhaps until is a better word—someone or something blocks our goals. Suddenly we get irritated. We fume at other drivers. Criticize colleagues. Snap at our family. In short, we leave a trail of human devastation all around us.
Today’s promise shows a way around this common scenario. We must take God’s Word seriously. We must read it, memorize it and think about it throughout the day. We must let it shape the way we think and alter the way we act. It’s only as we do this, that we will live a pure life that honors God.

• Delighting in my Word can keep you from wrong attitudes and actions.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
God, I know I’ll never be perfect in this life, but I do want to live in a way that honors you. If I hide your Word in my heart, I can keep from sin. Grant me the wisdom, Lord, to seek you, the discipline to get into your Word—and get your Word into me—and the discernment to apply your truth to everyday situations.
