God Gives You The Helmet Of Salvation
Take the helmet of salvation.
Ephesians 6:17
With many active sports, a helmet is a necessary piece of equipment to protect the head—the most vulnerable spot on the body. For a soldier on active duty, a helmet is even more vital. God says that his people are to include in their armor the helmet of salvation. The prophet Isaiah describes God as placing “the helmet of salvation on his head” (Isaiah 59:17).
God saves us when we trust Christ as our Savior. We are rescued from the bondage of sin and from an eternity separated from God. “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile” (Romans 3:22). The helmet of salvation protects our minds from the doubts that can so easily creep in and undermine our faith. Doubt can deal death blows to those not protected by an assurance of salvation. When we know, beyond a doubt, that we are saved, we can handle any adversity, question or difficulty. That knowledge will protect us like a helmet protects the head.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• You will be able to stand firm in battle when you wear the helmet of salvation.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, I’m especially grateful for the helmet of salvation and the protection it offers. I pray that the assurance of salvation will guard my thoughts and mind even as difficulties come and doubts attempt to creep in.
