God Will Bring You Out Of The Darkness

God Will Bring You Out Of The Darkness

Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the Lord’s wrath, until he pleads my case and upholds my cause. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his righteousness.
Micah 7:8-9

Micah served as a prophet to both the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. During Micah’s time the northern kingdom was taken into captivity by Assyria. As the northern kingdom endured the oppression of Assyria, King Hezekiah of Judah returned his nation to the worship of God—perhaps on Micah’s advice. The reign of good King Hezekiah bought more time for Judah.

Micah spoke the words above to the northern kingdom. He proclaimed that though the people had been punished severely for their sin, God would still be with them. In the darkness he would be their light. They needed to be patient through punishment because eventually God would bring them out of the darkness. When that time came, God would punish their enemies.

When we sin, we can expect God’s punishment. But we need to be patient, for God promises that he will be our light in the darkness. It may take some time, but God has not given up on us. He promises that we will see his righteousness.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• Though you sit in darkness, I will be your light.

• I will bring you out of the darkness and into the light. You will see my righteousness.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
Heavenly Father, bring me out of the darkness and into your light. Show me your righteousness and give me victory, Lord, nothing less.
