God Cares When You Need Hope
His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
Lamentations 3:22-25
Have you ever known that feeling deep in the pit of your stomach when you thought a situation was hopeless? The pain of hopelessness is almost visible.
God understands that pain. He feels along with us the awful ache of hurt, sorrow and fear. Believers are not immune to pain, that’s obvious. Yet quite often we get into those painful situations and feel that somehow this shouldn’t be happening to us. Did we do something sinful to deserve this? Has God left us? Where is God when we feel so hopeless?
The reality of these situations is that God is right there with us. “His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” We need to place our hope in him alone.
When we experience the pain of hopelessness, we desperately need the assurance of God’s daily mercy. We can place our hope in God alone, waiting for him and seeking him. As we wait for God’s salvation, hope will carry us through.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• My faithfulness is great; my mercy begins afresh each day.
• You can hope in me because I am good to those who wait for me and seek me.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, show me that there is hope in you. You promise that you are wonderfully good to those who wait for you and seek you. Reveal your great faithfulness to me.
