A Decision To Make

A Decision To Make

• What is a verdict?

• Why do you think the Bible refers to Jesus as “light”?

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
John 3:18-19

In this verse from John, the phrase “believes in him” means more than just saying “Jesus is real.” This kind of belief includes committing your life to Christ and putting your trust in his salvation.

Each and every person in this world must make such a decision. Each and every person in this world must choose between light and darkness, between serving God and serving self. Sadly, some people do choose darkness. Some people do choose themselves over their Creator.

And that’s their choice. No one can make this decision for someone else. Parents cannot make their kids choose Jesus. Church leaders cannot get church members to heaven. And you will not be able to make this decision for your friends or loved ones. You are called to share the gospel with people, to present it in a way that makes the truth clear through both actions and language. The rest is between each individual and God.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for our faith in him. We pray for those individuals who still need to make the right decision. Please help them to do so. Amen.
