Blessed Assurance

• How do you know that you’re going to heaven?

• How do you know that God loves you?

“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.”
John 6:37-39

Sometimes, we make mistakes. Even though we love God, sometimes we make bad decisions that cause us to fear losing his love. Sometimes we fear that we will lose our salvation or that we won’t go to heaven anymore. These verses from John tell us that none of these things could possibly happen.

If you are a believer, it’s because God chose you. And because God chose you, Jesus said he will never let you go. Jesus left heaven and came to earth to give his life for you. He knew what he was doing. He knew who he was dying for. And he has promised that he will not lose you.

This is an amazing assurance of your salvation. You cannot lose Jesus’ love. He promises, right here in these verses, that he will do the will of the Father. And loving you is the will of the Father. Jesus is with you every step of the way, until he raises you up on the last day. You will spend eternity with Jesus in heaven. Of that you can be sure.
