And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Hebrews 10:10

We can choose which church we want to attend. We can choose whom we sit next to. But we can’t choose whether or not we’re going to worship—not if we want to be truly fulfilled.

We were made to worship God—he created us for it. When we worship with all our heart, we are fulfilling our purpose and bringing ourselves as close to God as we will get in this lifetime. Without Jesus, though, our purpose would be unfulfilled.

We couldn’t get anywhere near God’s presence without Jesus. His sacrifice bridged the gap that our sin created. Without his death on the cross and his resurrection, we might not even know what our purpose was. We would just live our lives with a sense that something was missing—something big and important. No matter how much happiness or success we experienced, we would still be left unsatisfied.

Until we fulfill our created purpose of bringing praise and glory to God, we can never live fully. Without Jesus’ sacrifice, that wouldn’t be possible.

Dear God, thank you for sending your Son to bridge the gap between us. Thank you for giving us the privilege of worshiping you. Amen.
