For His Faithfulness

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
1 Chronicles 16:8 – 10

If you ever need a praise role model, look to David. He was a shepherd, a giant-killer, a warrior, a musician and the most beloved king in Israel’s history. More important than all that, though, is the fact that David knew how to praise God.

In Scripture, David is described as a man after God’s own heart. He didn’t get that reputation by ignoring the Lord. David knew God better than most people because David spent more time talking to him than most people do. And what did David talk about? Sometimes he talked about his enemies. Sometimes he talked about his failures. But most of the time, he talked about how great and how faithful God is.

The setting of 1 Chronicles 16 is Jerusalem, where David had just returned the ark of the covenant, one of the holiest relics in Israel’s history. David was so excited that he started praising God for his faithfulness to Israel throughout history. And David didn’t stop for 29 verses.
