For His Grace

For His Grace

• Why did the Israelites keep disobeying God after all the things he did for them?

• Why do you disobey God after all the things he’s done for you?

In that day you will say: “I will praise you, LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:1-2

The prophet Isaiah wrote the song of praise in Isaiah 12 to show his thankfulness for the Lord’s deliverance of Israel. From Egypt, through the Red Sea, against the attacks of the Philistines and others, God kept his protective hand over his people. He delivered them safely to the promised land. Isaiah wanted to make sure that the Israelites showed God proper thanks.

Let’s thank God for our deliverance too. As sinful creatures, we faced a bleak future. We had no hope of ever restoring our broken relationship with God. Heaven was beyond our reach. Our sin destined us to be separated from God forever.

Yet he would not let that happen. He loves us too much to allow us to stay trapped in our sin, apart from him. Someone had to take the punishment for wrongdoing, so he sacrificed his Son. Causing unimaginable pain to himself in the process, God gave us the gift of salvation. Thanks to him, we can have eternal life through Jesus.

Let us show him our gratitude. Beyond that, let’s help others discover his mercy and salvation. Let’s give them something to really be thankful for!

PRAYER
Dear God, we have read about your deliverance in the Bible, and we have experienced it ourselves. Thank you for your miraculous work in this world. We love you. Amen.
