God’s Representatives
• How are Christians supposed to treat one another?
• What does it mean to be compassionate?
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32
Davon was having a tough time, so when he heard that some kids were starting a Bible club that would meet after school, he decided to check it out. Something inside him made him think that learning more about God might help him.
When Davon arrived to his first meeting, the others were discussing what to name their new club. They paused to offer Davon a warm welcome and got him a chair. Then, as soon as he sat down, they went back to their discussion—a discussion that Davon quickly realized was an argument.
Davon was surprised to find that these kids were not getting along at all. They were being rude and insulting each other. One even told another he was stupid. Davon stayed for the rest of the meeting, but he never went back.
As believers, we must be kind to one another. Even when we disagree. We are God’s representatives here on earth. Our behavior sends a message to the world. When people watch us interacting with one another, they draw conclusions about what God is like. What do people see when they see you interacting with other believers?
PRAYER
Dear God, please help us to be kind to other people. When we disagree with other Christians, inspire us to act with love and kindness in spite of our differences. Amen.
