Just A Kid

Just A Kid

• Who did you look up to when you were younger?

• How would you react if you found out someone really looked up to you?

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12

Timothy was a very young man when the apostle Paul wrote to him. He was also a church leader. Timothy was afraid his youth would be a problem. He was afraid the people in the church would question his decisions or refuse to listen to him because he was “so young.”

Paul saw Timothy as he really was—a godly, wise and humble young man who had a lot to offer his fellow believers. Paul told Timothy that he should not be ashamed of his age and that he should set an example for others. As far as Paul was concerned, age was just a number. It doesn’t matter what year you were born; all that matters is what is in your heart.

That’s a twist, isn’t it? Usually young people are told to follow the example of older people. But young people are just as capable of being Christian role models as older people are. You don’t need to be a certain age. You just have to be committed to Christ.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for using people of all ages to do your work. Make us examples for other believers. Amen.
