Never Follow A Guide Who Does Not Know The Way

Never Follow A Guide Who Does Not Know The Way

• Describe a time when you were tempted to sin.

• Describe the process you go through when you need to make a decision.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Galatians 5:16-17

The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit. In the Bible, “the flesh” does not just refer to our physical bodies but also to our minds and emotions. Basically, “the flesh” refers to all the parts of us that are susceptible to sin.

God has given believers the Holy Spirit to show us a better way. The Holy Spirit lives inside each and every believer to help us make good decisions. When we listen to the Holy Spirit, we make good and safe decisions that honor and please God. When we listen only to our emotions, we can make poor decisions that land us in trouble.

We all have feelings, and we need to be aware of and able to name our emotions. We were not designed to be robots. But we shouldn’t depend on our emotions to guide us. Our emotions are not always reliable — only the Holy Spirit is a reliable guide.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us. Please help us listen to and obey the Holy Spirit. Amen.
