No Tears In Heaven

Did you know the average cost of a funeral in the Unites States is about $7,000? If there’s any comfort to be found in the business of death, it’s this: Funerals only occur in this world. There is no death or mourning in heaven.

Death wasn’t part of God’s original plan. His original plan was for his human creation to live endlessly and sinlessly with him. Death didn’t come into the picture until after Adam and Eve disobeyed him. Death was part of the consequences of their sin. In heaven, things will return to their original design. Once again, life will have no end. Death will not exist.

What does that mean for us? It means we will never have to worry about losing a loved one again. We will never have to wonder how we can live another day with the hole in our hearts that death causes. We will never have to watch a family member slowly die from an incurable disease. We will never have someone tell us that a good friend was killed in an accident. When God wipes the tears from our eyes in eternity, we will never be sad again.

PRAYER
Dear God, in this world of death and loss, thank you for giving us something to look forward to. Watch over the people who are grieving right now. Give them a sense of peace and hope. Amen
