The Light Of The World

Have you ever noticed that the scary scenes in movies always happen at night, in darkness? There’s a reason that the “haunted house” rides at the fair never have any lights on. Darkness is scary!

Have you ever waited in the dark for the power to come back on? Didn’t it feel wonderful when those lights popped back into action?

There’s a reason Jesus told us we are the light of the world. Light is safe and good. In the light, we can see what’s going on. We know what is true and what isn’t. People who do not know God are living in darkness, but they can see the light when they look at Christians.

You may have a friend who is “waiting for the lights to come back on.” And you might be the person who can help. You can show the light of God to people who are trapped in darkness.

Dear God, please help us to live in such a way that other people see your light shining through us. Amen.
