The Point To All Of This
• How would you have reacted if you had been the one to find Jesus’ empty tomb?
• Share a time when you’ve felt God working in your life. What was your reaction to his presence and power?
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:19
Paul wrote the above verse to the Corinthians because some of them were struggling with the idea of resurrection. They were finding it difficult to believe. Their former religious and life experiences did not support the idea that Jesus could have walked out of his tomb.
We might be able to relate to this. With all that we know about science today, it can be easy for us to have doubts about Jesus’ resurrection. In human terms, it just doesn’t make sense. It just doesn’t seem possible.
Paul wrote to the Corinthians and basically said, “Look, if Jesus wasn’t resurrected, then there’s no point to any of this.” Our entire faith depends on the fact that Jesus did not stay dead. He was resurrected. He ascended into heaven. He is alive today. And those who love, serve and believe in him will also be resurrected and join him in heaven.
The hope of Christians lies completely in the risen Savior. Thankfully, we know that Jesus is alive because we feel his Spirit working in our hearts and in our lives. We know that there is a point to all of this. And that point is Jesus.
PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for the resurrection. Thank you that our Savior is alive and well and working within us right now. Thank you for the hope that Jesus gives us. Amen.
