The Ripple Effect

• Who was the first person to explain the Christian faith to you in a way you could understand?

• What makes it difficult to share your faith with someone?

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

As amazing as it sounds, we don’t necessarily have to travel far to spread the Good News of Jesus to “all nations.” In fact, we can start with the people we see every day. Every time we talk to someone about Jesus, it’s like a pebble being dropped into a pond. It causes only a tiny splash, but it creates a ripple that can travel to the ends of the pond.

Like that pebble, one conversation about Jesus may not seem like a big deal. But that single conversation could turn out to be the start of something far-reaching—especially with the Holy Spirit working behind the scenes.

The Holy Spirit has the power to:

help us understand and communicate God’s Word in meaningful ways;

put us in the right place at the right time with the right words in our mouths;

open people’s eyes and hearts to our message.

If we step out and take risks by sharing our faith, the Holy Spirit will make sure it isn’t done in vain. That doesn’t mean every person we talk to will become a Christian. But it does mean that our efforts will never be wasted. Our words may spread seeds that are carried to all nations.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for giving us a chance to be part of something so life changing. Guide our thoughts, attitudes and actions as we talk to others about you. Amen.
