What Friends Are For

• Think of a friend whom you really appreciate. What do you appreciate about them?

• Who do you talk with when you are facing a tough time?

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Ecclesiastes 4:10-11

God created people with a gift for and a need for companionship. Friendship is one of the most beautiful experiences life has to offer, especially when we are going through tough times or struggles.

Friends make work easier and more fun. Friends make it easier to get back up when we get knocked down. Friends listen to us and teach us about life. And friends provide us with company and companionship.

God designed us to support, encourage and lift up one another. When we are feeling troubled or alone, God wants us to reach out to our friends for companionship. And when we know of someone who is going through a difficult time, God wants us to reach out to that person and offer our friendship. We can show our love for God by loving one another.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for the gift of friendship. Please help us to be good friends to the people you have placed in our lives. And please remind us to be available to our friends when they need us. Amen.
