God Cares About You
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7
If you give a present to someone, do you immediately take it back? Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? Yet when we give our worries and cares to God, we often end up taking them back. How can we give our worries to God and leave them in his hands?
Consider the case of Hannah in the Old Testament book of 1 Samuel. Struggling with the heartbreak of infertility and the taunting of her husband’s other wife, Hannah poured out her heart to God. After she did, “she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast” (1 Samuel 1:18). Now there’s a woman who knew how to give her worries to God.
Think about how great it feels to shed a heavy burden. Just watch the face of the average kid who casts his or her heavy backpack to the floor. That look of relief says it all. We can toss our worries to God. He can handle the load. He’s waiting for your face to take on that look of relief.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• You can give your worries to me because I care about what happens to you—even more than you do.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, I’m guilty of taking back the worries I claim to give you. Forgive me and help me rest the full weight of my worry in your capable hands. Thank you for the peace you give in return.
