God Comes To Those Who Wait

God Comes To Those Who Wait

You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
Psalm 59:9-10

Feeling overwhelmed is an experience for some people all the time, and for all people some of the time. The details may vary, but the result is the same—thick dread, perhaps even fear, a spirit of helplessness and hopelessness.

For David in Psalm 59, the crisis was the paranoid Saul and a murderous band of assassins. Our overwhelming situation—hopefully not hit men—may be a calendar filled to overflowing. One more event or one more pressure and we feel sure we’ll come unglued.

Whatever your predicament, David’s example is wise to follow. He placed his full confidence in God’s strength. He believed with all his heart that God would come through.

God proved himself reliable to David. He’s ready to do that for you, too.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I am your strength, your safety, your help.

• I will rescue you.

• My love never fails.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
God, you are my strength, my place of safety, my help. Instead of depending on my own strength or concocting a human solution, I will call on you and wait on you. Your love is unfailing. Give me the grace to keep trusting you to work in your way, in your time.
