God Gives Us The Will To Keep Doing Right
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7
Ever meet a Christian who is motivated, tireless and fearless? This is the ultimate “get it done” person, the poster child for spiritual accomplishment. Think “the apostle Paul.” Think “rare.”
Most believers can’t relate to such faith and courage. We identify more with Timothy, Paul’s young friend and protégé who struggled with fear, feelings of inadequacy and complacency.
In the last letter he ever wrote, Paul reminded Timothy that God had supplied all the resources necessary to do his will—the strength, the motivation and the ability to stay focused on the task.
That promise is good for you too.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I have supplied you with power.
• I have given you love.
• I have provided you the resource of self-discipline.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
What a shocking promise, Lord! You give me your power. When I turn to you, I can find the right motivation (love), the necessary strength (power) and the self-discipline I need to do your will in a way that brings you glory.
