God Has Determined The Length Of Your Life
Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.
Psalm 39:4-5
At some deep level we realize we’re mortal creatures. However, most of us on most days avoid such thoughts. We might mention getting older, or comment on how time flies, but then we quickly change the subject. The brevity of life is a sobering and unnerving topic.
And yet, the promise that God has allotted each of us a specific number of days—no more and no less—is a life-changing, even freeing truth. We need not be afraid to walk into any situation, for we can know that God will not take us a moment before he already has planned to.
Live wisely and make wise choices and be set free by knowing that God has your life in the palm of his hands. He will bring you to be with him when he has determined to do so.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I have given you a set number of days.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
This promise motivates me, Lord, to live wisely and well. I want to make each day count, for I only have a set amount. Thank you that I can trust every moment of every day of my entire life to you.
