God Is Concerned For You
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Matthew 6:26-27
Why do we worry? It doesn’t help a thing. In fact, researchers know that people with high levels of anxiety are much more susceptible to long-term health problems than those with lower levels.
It seems we think that if we get worked up and stressed out over a problem, our situation will somehow improve. So we bite off all our nails, wring our hands, pace around. But nothing changes, except maybe our blood pressure.
A better solution is rolling our problems over onto the shoulders of God. Only he is big enough to deal with them. And only he promises to care for us in perfect ways.
Worrying never solves anything. Why not give your troubles to the only one who can solve them, and soothe your worried heart at the same time?
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• You can trust me with your worries.
• You are valuable to me.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, forgive me for the foolish habit of fretting over things I can’t control. I don’t have to burden myself trying to take care of myself. Teach me to trust your promise—to believe that you have my best interests at heart.
