God Is Shaping Your Character

God Is Shaping Your Character

We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18

It begins as a big, shapeless block of marble. Over an extended period of time, the sculptor chips and smoothes the stone. At last the day comes for the great unveiling. The giant covering is yanked away, and there stands a breathtaking, lifelike masterpiece—a reflection of the artist’s genius.

In effect this is what God is doing in and with us. He is the great craftsman, dedicated to taking our ordinary, unimpressive lives and transforming them into unique and eternal works of art. More precisely he is about the business of making us just like his Son.

The process itself is painstaking and at times painful. But the point—the glory of God—and the product—a fully redeemed and re-created life—make it worth whatever price we must pay.

Are you willing to pay the price?

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• My Spirit is working in you.

• I am conforming you to my image, so that you will reflect my glory.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
O Father, thank you for loving me enough to work in me. Make me aware of your presence. Make me cooperative with your indwelling Spirit. I can’t always see signs of change, but I pray that others can.
