God Promises The Fruit Of Faithfulness

God Promises The Fruit Of Faithfulness

The fruit of the Spirit is … faithfulness.
Galatians 5:22

Throughout the Bible we read of God’s great faithfulness to his people. Moses told the Israelites, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments” (Deuteronomy 7:9). In this verse we get a clue about what faithfulness means—it has to do with trustworthiness, keeping promises, dependability, reliability.

In Jesus’ parable of the shrewd manager, he pointed out that those who are faithful in small matters will be entrusted with greater responsibilities (see Luke 16:10). Faithfulness begins with the little things. The Bible promises that as we remain faithful, we will one day share in Christ’s kingdom: “We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end” (Hebrews 3:14).

As we pray for the fruit of faithfulness in our lives and those of others, we are praying that we—and they—will be trustworthy, responsible and reliable. We also pray that as others notice this faithfulness, God will continue to entrust us with greater responsibility for building his kingdom.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• My Spirit grows the fruit of faithfulness in your life.

• The fruit of faithfulness will keep you until the end.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, I pray that I will be known as a faithful person, one who is trustworthy, dependable, reliable and who keeps my word. May I continue to trust you unwaveringly and so receive what you have promised.
