God Responds To Your Cries

God Responds To Your Cries

He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
Psalm 72:12

Prayer is a topic shrouded in myth. Reports of ancient saints like Martin Luther praying for two hours a day intimidate us. The eloquent prayers of mature, modern-day believers often leave us questioning our own faith.

Memo to twenty-first century believers: God isn’t monitoring our prayers with a celestial stopwatch. Neither is he impressed by flowery terminology.

According to the promise above, the person God hears is the person who simply cries out to him. He knows every need before we utter it.

Swamped? Overwhelmed? The simple heartfelt cry, “Help!” may be the most genuine, God-honoring prayer you’ve got. And it may actually be the one that brings the best and quickest answer.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I hear those who are right with me.

• I do big things in response to honest prayer.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, teach me to pray honestly from a heart that wants, above all else, to be right with you. Show me any wrong thoughts or actions that I need to turn away from, that might hinder my communication with you.
