God Welcomes You Into His Presence
The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.
Proverbs 15:8
Projection is the term used to describe our tendency to assume that others think and act the same ways that we think and act—and for the same reasons. For example, we are busily trying to accomplish a long list of urgent tasks. We are focused and do not want to bothered. But inevitably our children interrupt us, a friend calls or we get an urgent email, and we become annoyed.
Because this is our common reaction, we often assume God operates in the same way. “Running the universe is a big job,” we reason. “And God has more important issues to address than my silly old problems. No sense bothering him.”
This is wrong thinking—projection at its worst. God welcomes us into his presence. In fact he invites us to come boldly to him. Our prayers are his delight!
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• Your prayers please me.
• I want you to come into my presence.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
