God Will Destroy This World And All Its Troubles

God Will Destroy This World And All Its Troubles

He carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
Revelation 21:10-11

In the first century, while exiled on the barren island of Patmos, the apostle John was given this vivid glimpse of eternity.

Some call passages like this one a myth or fantasy. But the children of God know this snapshot of the future is anything but wishful thinking. Our heavenly Father reigns. History, as the old saying goes, is “His story.” The day is surely coming when the curtain will fall on this sin-scarred world. Finally and forever we will see an end to sorrows, death, crying and pain.

In the midst of our tough times, we need to remember what the future holds—not uncertainty and fear, but the reassuring promise of a brand-new existence void of bad things and filled with God. “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I will bring an end to this old world and its troubles.

• I am preparing a heavenly home where we will live together forever.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
I praise you, God, for your perfect ways, your perfect plan and for the glorious future that awaits.
