God Will Help You Stand In Troubling Times
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber.
Psalm 121:2-3
When busy people have problems, they often look for “the quick fix.” Identify the problem. Think of a solution. Implement it. Move on. That’s our preference.
We might opt to phone a trusted friend—or two or three. Buy and read a recommended book. Listen to a tape series while commuting. Or attend a highly regarded seminar or conference.
While none of these things are wrong—and all may actually prove beneficial—it’s important to remember that our ultimate help comes from above. God is the one we should rely upon and turn to first.
It’s also essential that we keep in mind that God may not solve our problems quickly—in fact, he may not “solve” them at all. He only promises to help—which may simply mean he gives us the grace to keep moving forward.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I will help you.
• I will not let you stumble or fall.
• I watch over you all the time.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
O Lord, maker of heaven and earth, you alone provide the help I really need. Thank you for watching over me and for caring about my situation. I don’t like going through troubles, but I’m grateful for your constant presence.
