The Lord Will Return and bring rewards

Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
Revelation 22:12

“That’s not fair!” is one of the most common complaints of children—even very young ones. And why? Because there seems to be within every soul an innate hunger for justice.

The book of Revelation grants us a sneak peek at heaven and earth at the end of human history. One of its most reassuring promises is the pledge by Christ himself to render perfect justice.

In 2 Corinthians 5:10, the apostle Paul tells believers: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

On that day—and forever after—everything will be absolutely fair. Followers of Jesus who have lived by faith, who’ve heard and heeded the words of Christ can expect good things. Rewards. Crowns. Commendations. Unimaginable opportunities to serve God in the life to come.

The promise is clear. And so is the principle. Be faithful. Do right. Listen to the words of Christ. Then, in the power of the Spirit, obey them.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• I am coming again.

• I will reward you according to how faithfully you have followed me.

MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord Jesus, thank you for the certainty that you reign over the affairs of this world. Thank you for being a perfect and wise judge. Grant me the grace to walk faithfully with you and to trust that whatever injustice I experience here and now will be made right there and then.
