You Can Confess Your Sins And Receive Mercy
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
More than likely you know someone who always blames their problems on someone else. It is difficult to admit our mistakes; it’s hard to say we’re wrong; it’s very hard to say we’re sorry. Yet we need to be people who do not constantly attempt to cover our sins.
Here in the Old Testament, the Bible tells us that concealing sin doesn’t move us ahead. Instead, we’ll spend so much time trying to remember what we said to whom that eventually we will get caught. How much better it is to be honest right from the start. How much better to confess and forsake wrongdoing. This verse from Proverbs says that we will find mercy when we confess and renounce our sins. The New Testament promises, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME
• When you confess and forsake your sin, you will receive mercy.
MY PRAYER TO GOD
Lord, give me strength of character to take responsibility for my actions and not to blame others. Please forgive me when I am wrong. You promise that when I confess my sins to you, you will forgive me and cleanse me. Thank you for your faithful mercy.
