You Were Created For God
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Many times in the news you read or hear of people who are described as “self-made” people. These include successful businesspeople and prominent actors or artists who worked their way up from the bottom and established great careers. “I did it my way” is the motto of many.

If we’re honest, we sometimes like to think of ourselves as “self-made” people whenever someone compliments our skill or accomplishments. But according to the apostle Paul there is one inescapable fact we can’t overlook: We were created by God for God’s own purposes.
So what does this mean? It means our lives are not our own. God has a unique purpose for each one of us. He desires that we live out the truth of this by first acknowledging his sovereignty—his right to rule over us and overrule our plans.
