Getting To The Source Of Life

Getting To The Source Of Life

He replied, “You give them something to eat”.
Luke 9:13

What if you were close friends with an author whose works you admired? Would you prize his books over his friendship? Of course not.

The disciples were so concerned about finding food for the crowd that they forgot they were in the presence of the bread of life.

Mary Ann Lathbury wrote of our need for daily spiritual food from the Word of God, which reveals the living Word who is the bread of life.

Thou art the bread of life,

O Lord, to me; Thy holy Word the truth

That saveth me: Give me to eat and live

With Thee above; Teach me to love Thy truth, For Thou art Love.

WALK WITH MARY ANN LATHBURY
Break Thou the bread of life,

Dear Lord, to me, As Thou didst break the loaves

Beside the sea: Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee, Lord;

My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word. Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord,

To me—to me, As Thou didst bless the bread

By Galilee: Then shall all bondage cease,

All fetters fall,

And I shall find my peace, My all in all.

WALK CLOSER TO GOD
You wouldn’t throw away a book just because you knew the author. In fact, you would probably strive to know him better by reading his works!

So as you read and meditate on God’s Word, expect to get closer to your Lord. And the next time you see a loaf of bread, let it be a reminder of your relationship with the one who is the bread of life.
