Your Chance To Choose The Right Side

Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for … you have given them … as they deserve”.
Revelation 16:5-6

Someone facing an unpleasant task often goes through three phases: contemplating how to do it, contemplating when to do it, and contemplating.

That formula may be humorous for mundane chores, but in eternal matters, procrastination can be lethal. When God’s judgment comes, it will come with finality. No postponements. No excuses.

C. S. Lewis paints this word picture of what that day might be like.

“When the author walks onto the stage, the play is over. God is going to invade, all right; but what is the good of saying you are on his side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else comes crashing in?

“This time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature.

“It will be too late then to choose your side. That will not be the time for choosing: It will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realized it before or not.

“Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side.”

WALK CLOSER TO GOD
Today you face a choice; tomorrow you will face the consequences of the choice you made. Today you may choose your path; tomorrow you will discover just where the path has led you.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you’ … Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels’ “ (Matthew 25:34,41).

Which will it be: getting “right” with God … or getting “left”?
